About this Survey
The purpose of this 9-question survey was to collect the thoughts and preferences on those playing ONLINE chess at chess.com at the La Palma Chess Online Tournaments Club website. Online play was prompted after the physical club has been closed since March 6, 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic. The survey was taken after the 5th round of LPCC's first G/30, 5 online event at Chess.com. The results collected on Aug. 21 & 22, 2020 reflect the responses of 39 respondents. Nine respondents skipped all the questions except No. 1 about their rating (an answer was required), and these nine were deleted. The tool used, a free SurveyMonkey account, only allows for 40 responses. LPCC would like to thank those that took the survey.

I have not yet participated.
relative advantage should not be displayed during the games
I have only played 1 game so far and I'm pretty happy with the
tournament so far.
Limited access to games. Don't want chess players outside the club - or
even inside it - to be able to research my play in our tournaments.
Howard Vihon PS - try to find games in Goichberg's tourney's. Probably
aint happening.
The time control is a bit fast, but it's enjoyable to feel the urgency.
For now, it's fine.
two rounds a week
I would like to see shorter time controls because it
significantly reduces any chance of cheating by other players, because
we as tournament directors can't fully catch any of the players, unless
there is obvious fair play issues that chess.com catches.
Fine, though I'd prefer to start at 7.
If you lose internet connection Chess.com will make the the person lose
the game. So there should be a rule if someone loses internet
connection.
am used to playing casual chess online
Not playing, just watching. Would rather play against other clubs -
Varying time controls
Some changes I would like to see are everybody showing up on time and
playing. It is a little confusing at first but it will get better.
I don't intend to play, but some form of cheat detection is a good idea.
Actually I rather like the way it is. Would be nice if chess.com
supported the pairings rather than doing it manually. Faster time
control, no, slower, no.
None it is great!

For now I'm holding out on "high stakes" events. I don't like the the
possibility of losing by mouse slip.
I don't plan to play in any online events.
Anything! maybe even chess variants. Bughouse crazy house, Chess960

15/10
I don't like any of these. I want at least a 5 second increment. 30 5
like the tournament is good.
I typically play 5/5, but realize more time leads to better chess.
G/1:30, 5-SD
40 Moves/100 & G/60 OR 40 moves/60 &G/60
Anything longer than 15 minutes is fine with me.
Well, I like G/10 or G/30, but I would play in all.
G/1
Bullet!

10 second increment
No Delay
G/5' d25" for regular rating! {ED: This applies to USCF ratings not chess.com ratings}
I prefer increment, but you just subtract it from the time so 5 0 would be 3 2, and game 30 would be 25 5 etc

Warning then an ejection if it happens again.
A stern warning from an elder unless there's a legitimate excuse.
1st time-forced next round bye/2nd time-ejection from event
But I can't think of an appropriate penalty :-)
I would leave the penalty to the tournament director's discretion. A player who misses a game because of a faulty Internet connection or other technological failure should be treated more leniently than an inconsiderate player who skips the round without notice.
In Pairings/Standings, list number of No-Shows for the Year by that player.
increasing penalty... Online is harder and easier in some ways than in person
