- Purpose: These games will give our members an opportunity to play rated games on nights when a Swiss or other tournament round is not scheduled.
- Eligibility: All players who are entered into the city of La Palma’s chess program at the time of a ladder match may play. Players must also be current members of the USCF.
- Pairings: For each round the player will be paired against an opponent who is closest to him or her in rating, and whom he or she has not played within the last three ladder match games. This restriction would not apply if the players’ last ladder match game occurred more than 30 days before. The TD, at his sole discretion, may adjust pairings to assist in the alternation and equalization of colors.
- Ratings: All games will be USCF rated. The ratings used for pairings will be the latest available official USCF ratings.
- Time Controls: Game 120/ delay 5

- La Palma Grand Prix Points: All games will count in the La Palma Grand Prix competition.
