Also included in the $35 Summer schedule entry fee:
Beat Your Norm Grand Prix
A three round "scrounger" that is the first
leg in determining the winner of the Beat
Your Norm Grand Prix that will include all rated games
played at La Palma from August 27 thru December 17. A scrounger
is a USCF rated chess tournament that combines the best features
of the Swiss (flexibility) with the best features of a quad (opponents
are close to each other in rating). "Norm point scoring"
is designed to give lower rated players a real chance to win the
tournament. Pairings are similar to that of a quad and are described
in Scrounger
Rules and Norm point scoring. The winner is the player that
most exceeds his Norm, or expected score based on his rating,
for all rated games played at La Palma through Dec 17.
First Prize is $100 guaranteed. (for period Aug 27 - Dec 17)
