The La Palma Chess Club schedule
Summer 2010 (June 18 through September 3)

Entry Fee

One $45 entry fee entitles you to play in the 4-month tournament session. Alternatively, the entry fees are as follows: Ivanov, $30; Thermo, $20; Closed Open, $15. A $5 discount for La Palma residents applies to either option.

Tournament Details


Igor Ivanov Open

A 4-round Swiss in one section in memory of IM Igor Ivanov.

Registration:
6-7pm. Rounds start 7pm.

Guaranteed Prize Fund (Sponsored by Dr. Harold Valery)
1st Place $150
2nd Place $100
$50 each for 1st U1900, U1700, U1500, U1300.
Trophies: Best A, B, C, D and E.
Best Game (as judged by IM Jack Peters) = $50.

Time control for both sections
: Game/120

Byes: One half-point bye may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
 

Thermoplastic Quad

A 3-round Quad in several section.  Each plays all others in their section once.

Registration: 6-7pm. Rounds start 7pm.

Prizes: 1st place in each quad, $50.

Time control for both sections

Byes: None.
 

The Closed Open

A 4-round Swiss in one section.  La Palma Chess Club members only (however, LPCC membership is free and available to anyone.

Registration:
6-7pm. Rounds start 7pm.

Prizes
1st place $75, 2nd place $35, and 3rd place $25.
Trophies to Best U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400, U1200.
