The La Palma Chess Club schedule
Spring 2010 (April 2 though June 11)

Entry Fee

One $45 entry fee entitles you to play in all three of the tournaments listed below. Alternatively, you can pay for them separately: $30 for either of the 5-round tournaments or $15 for the Quickie. A $5 discount applies for La Palma residents or those under 18 years old.

Tournament Details

The La Palma 35th Anniversary Open

A 5-round Swiss in two sections.

Registration: 6-7pm.

Rounds: All rounds start 7pm.

Prizes:

The Upper Section (anyone may enter):
1st = $75 + Trophy
2nd = $50
3rd = $30
U2000 = $15 + Trophy
U1800 = $15 + Trophy
Best Game Prize = $15 + Trophy

The Lower Section (only under 1700 may enter):
1st = $45 + Trophy
2nd = $30
3rd = $15
U1500 = $15 + Trophy
U1300 = $15 + Trophy
Shortest Game Prize = $15 + Trophy

Time control for both sections: Game/120

Byes: One half-point bye may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.

Spring Open

A 5-round Swiss in one section.

Registration: 6-7pm. If you paid $40 for all three events, you are automatically registered in this event.  If you do not show, you will be forfeited.  So, if you cannot make it please let the TD know in advance.

Rounds: All rounds start at 7pm.

Prizes.

1st = $65 + Trophy
2nd = $50
3rd = $40
U1900 = $15 + Trophy
U1700 = $15 + Trophy
U1500 = $15 + Trophy
U1300 = $15 + Trophy
Biggest Upset = $15
Best rating gain = $15

Time control: Game/120

The Quickie

 An 8-round Swiss of Quick Chess all in one night (scheduled on the night many of our members will be in Las Vegas for the National Open)

Prizes:

$20 Winner - determined by best performance rating gain (unrated must win outright).

Time control: Game/10

Byes: None.
