The La Palma Chess Club schedule
Winter 2005 (January 7 through March 25)

One $35 entry fee entitles you to play in a 3-month tournament session.  $5 discount for La Palma residents.
All tournament games played at LPCC count toward LPCC's Beat Your Norm Grand Prix to be awarded June 24.

Meta Four Swiss

A 5SS Swiss in two sections. 

Top section: limited to the 6 highest rated entrants plus lower rated challengers willing to pay $5 extra, and late entrants rated at or above the original 6.
Prizes: 1st place: $100 plus all buy-in payments from lower rated challengers.

Second section: open to all other entrants rated lower than the top 6.
Prizes: trophies to 1st overall, 1st B, 1st C, and 1st D/E/Unr.

Both sections:
Time controls: game/120.
Byes: one half point bye may be take except for the last round.   
Trophy tiebreaks: Cumulative, Solkoff, or combined rated of opposition.

We're Still Alive in 2005:  La Palma C.C.'s 30th Anniversary Chessfest

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the La Palma Chess Club. A 6-round Swiss in one section. 

Prizes: $150 first, $75 second; trophies to 1st B, C, D/E/Unr; Biggest Upset, Quickest Checkmate,
Most Brilliant Game as judged by IM Jack Peters, and Highest Performance Rating Gain;
and every player who plays all six games wins a chess stuff prize, e.g., chess set or book.

Time Controls:  Game/120. Digital clocks preferred.  Five second time delay preferred.  Clocks
using a five second delay should be set at G/1:55 + 5 seconds per move.

Byes: one half-point bye may be taken.  A irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed
only if declared before the first round starts.

Trophy tiebreaks: Cumulative, Solkoff, or combined rating of opposition.
