The La Palma Chess Club schedule
Summer 2005 (July 8 through September 9)

One $40 entry fee entitles you to play in a 3-month tournament session.  $5 discount for La Palma residents.

Action in the Center, Mating in the Back Rank
A 5-round Swiss in two sections of equal size. (If at least 16 entrants).

Center section: Limited to the higher half of the players ranked by ratings.
Prize: 1st place: $100.

Back rank section: Open to the lower rated players.
Prizes: Trophies to 1st overall, 1st under 1700, 1st under 1500 , and 1st under 1300.

Both sections:
Time controls: Game/120.
Prize: Trophy prize for biggest performance rating gain in either section.
Byes: One half-point bye may be taken.  A irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
Trophy tiebreaks: Modified Median, Solkoff, Cumulative, Cumulative of Opposition.

Is This the Dawning of the Age of Provigil?

A 5 round Swiss in one section. 

Prizes: $100 first, trophies to 1st. B, C, and D/E/Unr. $50 special prize for the highest performance rating gain.
Time controls: Game/120.
Byes: one half-point bye may be taken.  A irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed
only if declared before the first round starts.
