Entry Fee
$54 for the session which includes all tournaments. Or, tournaments can be entered individually. All fees $5 less for La Palma residents.

Are you suffering from Bad Bishop Syndrome? Perhaps a Dark Square Weakness? Here’s
the clinic for you. A 5-round Swiss in one section.
Registration: 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes:
1st. $80
2nd. $40
First Class B, C, D and under: $25 each.
Special prizes: Best Endgame, longest win, largest rating gain.
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: One half-point bys may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
Nimzovich and Nightmares
Deep in the labyrinths of My System and Chess Praxis are both great ideas and great
headaches. But his works made possible a great transition in how chess was understood. A 5-round Swiss in two sections.
Registration: 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Sections:
Upper section Class A and above; Lower section Class B and
below.
Prizes, each sections:
1st. $100; 2nd. $50; 3rd. $25.
Special prizes for biggest winning sacrifice (Queen sac for Pawn is an 8=9-1), biggest upset, and any player whose rating gain has
promoted him or her into a higher class.
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: One half-point bys may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
28th La Palma Club Championship
A 7-round Swiss in one section.
Registration: 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes:
1st place: $500 and championship title
2nd place: $200
3rd place: $50
Perfect 7-0 score: $100
Best game (as judged by IM Jack Peters): $50
Trophies for best under 1700, best under 1500, and largest rating gain.
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: Two half-point byes may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
