Winter Session 2014 (Jan. 3 through Mar. 28, 2014)
Entry Fee
$45 for the session (includes all three tournaments). Or, and $20 for the Ladder Matches; $40 for the 7th Milky Way Championship; and $35 for the Monty Python Memorial.
All fees $5 less for La Palma residents.

Ladder Matches
A 1-round ladder competition, paired by rating.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes: $5 for a win.
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: None.
7th Milky Way Championship
A 7–round Swiss in one section.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes:
1st. place: $75
2nd. place: $50
3rd. place: $30
Best game (As judged by IM Jack Peters): $20
Special prizes for best under 1700, best under 1500, and best under 1300
Black Hole prize for the biggest space advantage
Voyager II prize for the biggest rating gain
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: Two half-point byes may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
Monty Python Memorial
5–round Swiss in two sections. Knights Section: 10 highest rated players plus additional late entrants whose
ratings are in this bracket; Serfs Section: all others.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes, both sections:
Knight Section Prizes: $75 1st. and $50 2nd.
Serfs Section Prizes: $50 1st. Special prizes for best under 1600, best under 1300, and $20
“Killer Rabbit” prize for the biggest upset by an under 1600 rated player.
Combined sections: $20 “The Holy Hand Grenade” (best game prize) and Special “None Shall Pass” prize for the juiciest Knight fork.
Time control: Game/1:55, d/5
Byes: One half-point bye may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
