Entry Fee
$45 Winter session (includes all three tournaments), $25 Captain
American Open,
$40 5th Milky Way Championship,
and $20 Ides of March.
All fees $5 less for players under 18 or La Palma residents

Tournament Details
Captain American Open
A 5–round Swiss in two sections. Section split to be two halves based on initial
entries.
Registration: 6-7pm. Rounds start at 7pm.
Upper Section:
The upper section will be the higher rated 50% of initial entrants.
Prizes: Upper section: $75 1st place and $50 2nd place.
Lower Section:
All others.
Prizes: $50 1st place. Trophies for Best Under 1600, Best Under
1300, and biggest rating gain.
Time control: Game/120.
Byes: One half-point bye may be taken. An irrevocable last round
half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
5th Milky Way Championship
5-round Swiss in one section.
Registration: 6-7pm. Rounds start at 7pm.
Prizes:
1st place $75, 2nd place $50, and 3rd place $30.
Trophies for Best under 1700, Best Under 1500, and Best Under 1300.
Black Hole trophy for the longest winning game; Shooting Star trophy for the
biggest rating gain.
Time control: Game/120
Byes: One half-point bye may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point
bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
The Ides of March
3-round Quadrangular tournament, sectioned by rating.
Registration: 6-7pm. Rounds start at 7pm.
Prizes: 1st place each in quad section: $30.
Time control: Game/120
Byes: None.
